Retreat Update
And just like that, our first of two pilot soul care retreats is in the books! We had a great time of retreat last week with couples who have served in vocational and lay ministry as well as on the local and global mission field. We were blessed to spend five days in a picturesque location to experience and share a rhythm of engagement and disengagement (work and rest).
Jesus lived his life in this rhythm. He would engage with people in relationship and ministry, and purposely disengage for times of rest and renewal with the Father. In life and ministry, we’re often engaged to the point of exhaustion, and when we do rest, it’s usually collapsing at the end of a busy day. Our hope through this soul care retreat is to help ministers and missionaries learn, experience, and implement a rhythm of work and rest that is healthy, life-giving, and sustainable.
The feedback we received from this retreat, and that we’ll gather at our February retreat, will help us in creating the ideal retreat experience when we open Shepherd’s Inn next year. We’re happy to say that the feedback from this retreat was very encouraging!
Autumn Work Days at Shepherd’s Inn
As we look towards 2021 we have a couple work days on property scheduled. If you would like to volunteer we’d love for you to join us. We’ll even feed you lunch. Here are the dates we have scheduled:
Saturday, November 14 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
&
Saturday, December 5 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
We will be clearing brush, cutting and moving fallen or dead trees, and demoing a small out building. Whether you're skilled with a chainsaw or able to pick up branches, we’ll have something for you to do. You can work all day or during the morning or afternoon shifts.
We hope to have a good team on both days, so let us know if you’ll be joining us as soon as you can. Simply click on a date (or both) above to sign up. If all the slots are filled and you would like to help out on one of the days, email us here and let us know what you’d like to do, and we’ll get you signed up. In the event of rain, we’ll reschedule and contact you in advance by email.
Thanks for continuing to pray for and support the ministry of Shepherd’s Inn! We hope to see you at one of our work days.
In Christ,
Steven and Cheryl
